Immersive western space
Immersive western space
For this private event, I designed an environment where original horse illustrations moved seamlessly between digital and physical surfaces. A series of custom animated drawings was created and projected onto multiple screens embedded within the set, giving the impression that the horses were alive inside the space. Each animation was derived from my original hand-drawn line work, then translated into motion to create a continuous visual narrative.
Large-scale prints of the same illustrations were integrated directly into the architectural elements of the venue: sliding barn-style panels, walls and scenic frames. The dialogue between the static prints and the animated screens created a layered visual experience, where the horses appeared to shift between still image and movement as guests moved through the space.
The scenography combined western references with contemporary visual storytelling: leather textures, saddles and horseshoes contrasted with digital screens and subtle lighting, allowing the animations and illustrations to merge into one cohesive environment. The result was a living installation where illustration, motion design and spatial design worked together to transform the venue into an immersive visual narrative.
The design language extended beyond the main installation into additional zones, where parallel visual references were carefully introduced to enrich the experience while maintaining coherence. In the outdoor area, bandana-inspired patterns and beach elements created a relaxed coastal atmosphere, with blue paisley floor prints, tropical signage and natural textures reinforcing the sense of an open, sunlit gathering space. Inside, the mood shifted toward a darker, club-like environment: black paisley graphics were integrated into the flooring and surfaces, accompanied by deep lighting and a more immersive night-time palette. A custom DJ booth wrapped in straw and western elements anchored the music zone, blending rural references with contemporary nightlife energy. Together, these contrasting yet connected environments expanded the narrative of the event, allowing guests to move between different atmospheres while remaining within the same visual world.
